ONC BOCES is seeking a Health Occupations Instructor
As a visionary educational leader, the Health Occupations Instructor will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of nursing students in our region. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead the high school CTE nursing program while teaching students the skills needed to succeed in the world of nursing. Students at the Otsego Area Occupational Center are offered the opportunity to earn their Home Health Aide (HHA) and Certified Nurse Assisting (CNA) licensures through our NYSED approved program. The selected candidate will foster an environment that promotes academic excellence, student growth, and community engagement. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, collaborator, and advocate for innovation, committed to ensuring our students receive world-class opportunities to enhance student outcomes and lifelong learning. Reporting to the Principal and Student Programs Supervisor of the Otsego Area Occupational Center (OAOC), the Health Occupations Instructor will create the conditions for student success.
2025-2026 School Year:
Starting Base Salary: $48,890
Plus $525 per year of experience
Plus $45 per graduate credit
Plus $1,100 per master’s degree

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:
Provide leadership in managing and implementing a comprehensive nursing program for secondary students at OAOC
Assure compliance with programmatic accreditation and/or licensure, internal consistency, and graduate outcomes that meet workplace and placement expectations
Assists with budget preparation and fiscal administration, curriculum development and coordination
Coordination of program-specific external clinical facilities and instruction
Creating and maintaining class and clinical schedules
Provides classroom based instruction and hands on training with the demonstration of clinical skills in relation to theory, encouraging critical thinking and mentorship to students
Secondary Skills:
Problem-solving and associated necessary creativity to resolve issues
Research, planning and analytical skills
Multitasking and organizational skills including appropriate prioritizing
Time management skills
Communication skills, both oral and written
Office management skills including preparing and maintaining accurate records and basic math skills
Interpersonal skills including customer service skills
Ability to work with a diverse individuals and/or groups
Knowledge of trends in the healthcare industry
