Primary Responsibilities:

Collaborate in the development and implementation of distance learning programs, ensuring alignment with institutional standards and goals

Utilize expertise in distance learning equipment and programs, including video conferencing, to configure and troubleshoot regional equipment

Maintain and secure infrastructure and networks to ensure reliable connectivity

Install and configure audio-video equipment components in distance learning classrooms and mobile carts

Act as a liaison between vendors and districts for repairs and installations, including layouts, placements, recommendations, and coordination with vendors, districts, and the regional information center (RIC)

Oversee maintenance and provide recommendations for Distance Learning equipment and programs

Monitor and evaluate the performance and progress of distance learning programs and equipment, implementing necessary improvements

Administer Zoom video conferencing software to support regional staff and students

Offer technical support and training to faculty, staff, and students for the effective use of online learning platforms

Assist students, staff, and faculty in delivering distance and online learning to enhance students' academic achievement and development

Build and maintain relationships with component districts, community organizations, and stakeholders to support and enhance distance learning initiatives

Maintain an inventory of distance learning equipment

Set up meetings and provide support for video conferencing, virtual field trips, and other collaborative activities

Assist the Distance Learning Coordinator with grant applications and other funding opportunities as needed

Civil Service Job Description:

Distinguishing Features of the Class: The primary function. of this position is to assist in implementing and providing on-going support for video and other related e-learning technology services in ONC BOCES and participating component school districts. The work is performed under daily supervision of the Distance Learning Coordinator with administrative supervision by the Coordinator of ISS. Does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities (Illustrative Only):

Receives trouble calls on equipment and troubleshoots;

Travels to remote sites, provides supplies and performs routine/preventive maintenance on distance learning equipment;

Repairs equipment and replaces components to identify or remedy failures;

Assists the Distance Learning Coordinator with maintaining infrastructure servers; Management Server, Digital Recorders (2) & MCU Bridge;

Assists with virtual field trips and collaborations as needed;

Performs local and remote site testing on equipment to diagnose faults; Assists with test calls and connections as necessary;

Provides Server and system monitoring through TMS;

Communicates with vendors and other technical support personnel to aid in the solution of problems regarding distance learning hardware and software;

Sets up teacher's computer and test software to ensure that the entire system is fully operational:

Acquires and remains knowledgeable of the latest distance learning equipment;

Performs inventory and orders spare parts as well as strip surplus equipment for useable parts;

Attends conferences and seminars to keep abreast of distance learning technology;

Adds and removes end points from TMS; Tracks inventory of DL equipment;

Assists the Learning Distance Coordinator in developing visions and goals for the service.

Full Performance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good knowledge of the use of video technologies and/or data communications systems, including distance learning networks; exemplary oral and written communication skills; ability to work effectively with others; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Assist school districts and BOCES in transitioning to new internal phone systems

Assist with the development and execution of phone systems, ensuring they meet institutional standards and goals

Knowledge of telephone systems and programs to configure and troubleshoot equipment in the region

Installation of telephone communication equipment components

Oversees the maintenance and recommendations of telephone equipment and programs

Monitor the performance and progress of telephone systems and equipment, making necessary improvements.

Maintains inventory of phone equipment and lines

Audit telephone vendor billing to ensure accurate costs

Build and maintain relationships with component districts, community organizations, and stakeholders to support and enhance telephone services

Assists Distance Learning Coordinator with RFPs for additional phone solutions.

Civil Service Job Description:

Distinguishing Features of the Class: This is a professional position responsible for leadership, management and coordination of the Distance Learning Program. The program provides support to school districts in reaching their goals and objectives in all areas of distance learning including videoconferencing courses, online courses, learning management systems, virtual field trips, collaborations, and meetings. The work is performed under general supervision of the Director of Instructional Support Services. Supervision is exercised over the Distance Learning Specialist, Distance Learning Technician and clerical staff. Incumbent does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities (Illustrative Only):

Coordinates training as needed;

Facilitates videoconferencing course scheduling within the region and across the state;

Facilitate virtual field trips within the region;

Create and facilitate videoconference collaborations within the region and across the state;

Serves as liaison between participating schools, the community college, and technology/service providers for videoconferencing services;

Facilitates policy development and implementation to provide guidelines for distance learning program;

Facilitates and/or participates in meetings of committees as Program Leader, including Program Leader

Meetings and Instructional Support Advisory Meetings. Also attend BOCES Board of Education meetings, school district Board of Education meetings, district Faculty meetings, Cabinet meetings, and Principals’ Academy as requested;

Maintains liaison with appropriate local, regional, state and federal officials and organizations including higher education;

Develops and monitors the operational and management budget for the program and its activities so that efficient operation is maintained;

Coordinates activities related to managing and monitoring Distance Learning Grants or other funding.

Coordinates promotion and publicity of the distance learning program.

Prepares and submits all necessary reports to appropriate individuals;

Crisis Intervention Specialist

ONC BOCES is accepting applications for a Crisis Intervention Specialist to begin at the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

Crisis intervention specialists are trained to manage and respond to immediate crises or emergencies, whether they are related to behavioral issues, mental health concerns, or external events impacting students. They focus on de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, and providing immediate support during critical situations. Collaborate with educators, school counselors, and behavioral specialists to create crisis management plans tailored to students' unique needs. They offer support during behavioral emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff.

This is a full-time, 10-month position located at NCOC in Grand Gorge.

Salary: $35,721.00

Behavior Specialist

ONC BOCES is accepting applications for a full-time Behavior Specialist. This is a 10-month, 7.5-hour workday, Non-Unit Support, Civil Service position.

The Behavior Specialist is a key member of our Special Education and Related Services team that provides support in relation to the behavior management of students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment within the BOCES and districts. The Behavior Specialist provides training, dissemination of information, consultation, and resources to teachers, administrators, and other related service providers to ensure our students are successful.

The ideal candidate for the Behavior Specialist position will have a proven track record of working with challenging students to improve their behaviors. They should also be familiar with a variety of evaluation tools and have experience administering functional behavioral assessments and creating behavior intervention plans. They should also have knowledge of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, the ability to collect and analyze data, and classroom and behavior management experience while working with students with disabilities.

Salary: $50,000—$60,000 commensurate with education and experience
